Visiting Riverhead Coffee

Supporting local businesses is something I feel really strongly about. When I heard about a new independant coffee shop opening up I had to go and see it for myself! Once I did, I knew it was my kind of place. With books, culture and a welcome as soon as I walked in the door, I was instantly impressed.

Since Riverhead Coffee opened this year it has become the new meeting place for me and my friends. The atmosphere is relaxed and welcoming, and the attention to detail gives this little coffee shop its own signature charm.

As soon as you walk in the chalkboard map instantly demands your attention. It's already marked with many customers names and where they are from, as well as wifi information which is always a bonus! This is a really great use of the space and makes the place feel unique.
When I was writing this review a family travelling from Malaysia came in and marked their names on the map. They were so happy to have left a memory here and they told me they really liked
the coffee!

So let's talk about the drinks. Riverhead has a great selection of iced teas, iced coffees and hot drinks. As well as cakes and sandwiches! All of which are delicious and incredibly moreish...

The amazing design detail even extends to the coin covered counter top. (And some lush free samples of a cookie...yes I tried one)

On this visit to Riverhead I had iced tea which I am reliably Informed is PROPER ICED TEA! Which was so so refreshing in this hot weather we are currently being blessed with in Grimsby. Unlike other iced tea's I've had elsewhere it wasn't overly sweetened and sickly, which usually prevents me from finishing the glass. Today I had two drinks they were THAT good. And very modestly priced compared to the larger branded chain coffee vendors in town.

This chair also caught my eye, made out of recycled coffee hessian sacks! There were other armchairs, stools and chairs. I was spoiled for choice !

It is worth mentioning that Riverhead also has a children's area (which I didn't photograph because some children were using it at the time) which is a welcome change for mums (like me) who occasionally find themselves in need of solace and coffee when accompanied by children. Riverhead really invites you to relax and unwind, the children's area makes it accessible for parents and children and every detail of this compact retreat is so thoughtfully done that you can't help but fall a little bit in love with it.

I will certainly be back. Most weeks! I encourage you to go try it if you're passing, and see for yourselves.
